The history of cannabis is a grand tale - turbulent yet exciting. One only need to look a little into its past to be quickly convinced of it. Mostly ignored by the general public, its vast history is nevertheless a fascinating human adventure which deserves more attention. To better understand this plant, both sacred and banned during its saga from ancient times to modern ones, The Grand History of Cannabis has made its mission to highlight the global history of cannabis through a collection of art and books.

In the history of cannabis Holland holds a very special place. Home to a unique experiment that has paved the way for modern cannabis to blossom.

Holland is this small country where something really huge happened. We are entitled to ask ourselves, why and how did this happen in Holland and not elsewhere? The second chapter and book in this serie is about Mexico and its 500 year old relationship with Marijuana. Diving deep into a deeply important part of the hisrtory of cthe most stigmatized plant in the world.

Its influence on global cannabis culture is undeniable, yet its roots lie in the industrial ambitions of a distant empire. Cannabis arrived in Mexico in the 16th century, introduced by the Spanish for textiles and cordage that feuled the age of discoveries. Over five centuries, the plant underwent a profound transformation and became a vibrant staple of Mexican folk medicine.

La Creme gracia

The collection of art is on permanent display in Barcelona at social club La Creme Gracia. A global-minded cultural association located in the heart of Barcelona, in the bohemian neighborhood of Gracia.

The homebase of the project has been this club and over the past 4 years we have welcomed many guests, artists, writers, historians, activits and plant fanatics in our clubhouse. Come visit the exhibition and submerse yourself into art and community in downtown BCN.
