(PODCAST) The HighCloud

Ruben and I met in 2022 at the outdoor edition of the Homegrown Cup in Tilburg — you’ll notice in many of these stories that the Homegrown Cup is a common denominator. In the months leading up to that event, I stumbled upon Ruben’s content and podcast. He had just wrapped up season one of the HighCloud Podcast, and he was clearly carving out a space for himself within the Dutch cannabis scene. His show was engaging and filled with great guests — people he allowed to truly be themselves and tell their stories. But what really did it for me was Ruben’s signature humor and unmistakable laugh — those who’ve watched the show know exactly what I mean.

That evening in Tilburg, we spotted each other from across the room — one giant, and the other not so giant in stature, but definitely giant in aura. It didn’t take long before he made his way over to the barstool where I was sitting, and almost immediately he invited me to be a guest on season two of the podcast. I was honored to be able to share my work and life in depth on his platform.

The podcast was scheduled for February 2023, just a month after the birth of my son on January 18th. So I stepped into that recording as a fresh dad of two — and hella tired. But Ruben and his brother Patrick made me feel right at home from the moment they walked into my studio and started setting up. There was an instant click between us, and we even had to pause our excited banter so we wouldn’t use up all our conversation before the mics were on.

Ruben helped me reach an audience in a way I could never have done on my own. He was kind, respectful, and loaded with insightful questions. So Mr. Coelho, thank you for bringing the heat — and thank you for your great podcast.
