(PODCAST) First Smoke of the Day

During Spannabis weekend 2025, we had the opportunity to sit down with the legendary podcast creators behind The First Smoke of the Day. I can confidently say this podcast is the number one show in the cannabis world. They feature cutting-edge guests ranging from growers, trappers, and hippies at heart to artists and innovators — anyone with a story rooted in cannabis. If it’s authentic and about the plant, they’ll provide the platform to tell it.

Stefan, the owner of Club La Crème Gracia, saw the opportunity and invited them to the club to record the podcast. It turned out to be a brilliant move, because without us knowing it at the time, this would be the last Spannabis held in Barcelona — and the final chance for First Smoke of the Day to visit the club where we built the permanent art collection for The Grand History of Cannabis.
During that same weekend, we also had a special guest at the club — legendary cartoonist and visual journalist Brian “Box” Brown. He jumped in on the podcast, and I was thrilled he joined the conversation. Brian added great insights and shared fascinating stories about cannabis culture in the U.S. It was amazing to hear him and Lance exchange thoughts about the current state of legal cannabis in America — and I’m sure the FSOTD audience was just as captivated.
It was truly an honor to speak with Lance and the team. They gave us the space to dive deep into The Grand History of Cannabis and share the motivation and meaning behind the project. I’m incredibly grateful we seized the opportunity to collaborate with FSOTD — and deeply impressed by their work ethic and professionalism - true ambassadors of the plant and its culture.
The First Smoke of the Day also made a short documentary about the Spanish social club and cannabis scene. I highly recommend watching it to get a sense of the landscape and culture of the clubs in Barcelona.
