Grove Bags

A few years back, I was a guest on the Future Cannabis Project Podcast. Peter, the host, invited me to join his weekly show to talk about my art — and to draw live while people tuned in. It turned into an incredibly fun conversation that kept Peter up until the early hours of the morning. He’s based in California, and I started drawing around 9 AM Amsterdam time — so the time difference was a rocky one, but Peter pushed through like a champ.

Some time later, I got a message from Peter:
“Can you make a design for a bag? The catch is — I need it within the next hour. You’ll get 500 bags for yourself.”
I looked at the bag he was talking about — a sleek 5–7 gram Grove Bag. I had never seen them before, but they looked clean and professional. I threw together a quick design using some of my most trusted characters — the hippie/grower and the bear. Peter loved it. That design became the first of many Grove Bags I’ve made over the years — all thanks to Peter and his podcast.

This whole experience was another reminder that when you put yourself out there — do podcasts, go to events, meet people, and show up without expecting anything in return — good things tend to come back your way. Karma is real, and in this case, it turned into an ongoing collaboration with one of the top bag manufacturers in the world: Grove Bags.

Through Grove Bags, I connected with two guys I hold very dear — Lance and Scott. Lance, a writer, cannabis historian, and business mind, has been at the forefront of Grove Bags’ growth in recent years. His greatest asset in Europe is his trusted, bald-headed, dancing partner-in-crime, Scott. He’s American but has spent so much time in Europe that I doubt he’ll ever move back — he’s fully embraced the European lifestyle and even rolls tobacco into his joints. Fully integrated, I’d say.

Together with these two gentlemen and the Grove Bags team, we’ve created some beautiful designs over the years — including collabs with Grassroots California and Social Club La Crème Gracia. The partnership has always been natural — a simple barter between art and product, with both sides helping each other reach new audiences, all while keeping flowers fresh and perfectly cured.

The Terp-Loc® technology that sets Grove Bags apart from regular mylar competitors has impressed me more than once. In my studio, I often get gifted nugs from visiting friends — small tokens of appreciation that I always tuck away in a Grove Bag. Sometimes, in the chaos of my studio, I lose track of them for weeks or even months. Then, out of nowhere, I’ll stumble upon one again — open it up — and the flower inside is still fresh, pungent, and full of terps. Often better than when I first put it away.
The technology works.
And I genuinely love my Grove Bags.
Thank you, Lance, Scott, and the whole Grove Bags family — for the collaboration, the kindness, and for always keeping it fresh.
